Western designs have always been part of the Studio vibe.  The landscapes and iconography of cowboys, horses and Americana have been an inspiration since Stephen created his Americana series in 2018. The petites feature icons - horses, cacti and many other symbols created with yarn, embroidery and appliqué. The pieces all start with up-cycled luxury boxes or shopping bags that are trimmed into the background shape, collaged and then embroidered. The embroidery is stitched directly through the actual box itself. Each petite features intricate embroidery stitches that truly make each one unique. The western icons are then added in relief on the background truly making a three dimensional piece.

The creation begins with a meticulous deconstruction of luxury boxes and bags, transforming them into a captivating backdrop for the artwork. This canvas is then brought to life through an exquisite tapestry of embroidery, where thousands of delicate stitches weave through the sumptuous packaging, forming an enchanting design in harmonious tones.

Layers of embroidery intertwine with elegant luxury appliqué to craft striking icons that emerge from the richly embroidered surface, each piece standing out as a singular work of art. About the Artist

Born and raised in Hoboken, New Jersey, Stephen Wilson is a conceptual artist whose unique medium carries his message. A background in fashion and home design built Wilson’s embroidery-digitizing mastery and creative expertise. In his fine arts practice, Stephen is deeply interested in the intersection of traditional craft and contemporary culture. Wilson is represented by major galleries across the US, including Art Angels, Roman Fine Art, DTR Modern Galleries (NY, Boston, DC, Palm Beach.)

His work is frequently exhibited along with his neo-pop / urban art contemporaries i.e. Robert Mars, Mr. Brainwash, Punk Me Tender; and major contemporary / modern / pop artists such as Warhol, Hirst, and Kapoor. Stephen’s work was acquired internationally by the National Gallery of Art (Sofia, Bulgaria), Minart (Museo International de Arte) Museum (Guadalajara, Mexico) and the Brunello Cucinelli headquarters (Solomeo, Italy), in addition to private and public collections throughout the United States. His work has been publicly exhibited in diverse locales from the Lincoln Center in New York to Catch Restaurant in Los Angeles.
